About Certastar SC
Certastar SC is an insecticide containing Chlorantraniliprole 18% w/w SC, belonging to the anthranilic diamide group of insecticides. It is primarily used for controlling important caterpillar and lepidopteran pests in registered agricultural crops. Chlorantraniliprole acts on ryanodine receptors in insect muscle cells, causing uncontrolled release of calcium and resulting in muscle paralysis and rapid cessation of feeding. This helps reduce crop damage soon after pest exposure. The suspension concentrate formulation provides a uniform dispersion of the active ingredient in water and is suitable for foliar application. Certastar SC can be used against pests such as stem borers, leaf folders, bollworms and fruit and shoot borers, depending on the crop and registered recommendation. Application should be timed according to the target pest's susceptible growth stage and the directions provided on the product label.
Key Benefits
Provides effective control of important caterpillar and lepidopteran pests.
Causes rapid cessation of feeding after pest exposure.
Provides prolonged protection against susceptible target pests.
Suitable for managing stem borers, leaf folders and various fruit and shoot borers.
Suspension concentrate formulation allows uniform application over crop foliage.
Crops & Target Pests
Crop | Target Pest | Dosage | Application |
|---|---|---|---|
Rice | Stem Borer, Leaf Folder | 60 ml/acre | Foliar spray |
Cotton | Bollworms | 60–80 ml/acre | Foliar spray |
Chilli | Fruit Borer | 60–80 ml/acre | Foliar spray |
Dosage & Application
Certastar SC should be applied as a foliar spray at the crop- and pest-specific registered dose.
For Chlorantraniliprole 18.5% SC formulations, commonly used application rates are around 60–80 ml/acre, depending on the crop and target pest.
Apply when the target pest is observed, preferably during the early larval stage. Ensure thorough and uniform coverage of crop foliage and pest-infested plant parts.
Use sufficient water to obtain good coverage according to crop canopy. Follow the current Certastar SC label for the exact dose, spray volume, application timing and pre-harvest interval.
